Hey it's Anushka here today. I just wanted to talk a little bit about my Science Fair.
This year it will be my 4th year participating in science fairs. Last year my science fair was about "Which drink stains the teeth the most? " I figured out that coffee stains teeth the most. But, more surprising was that grape juice stained the teeth very badly. After I brushed the teeth the stains slowly went away (lightly). I think I did great last year because I learned a lot and won the third prize. I hope to do better this year.
This year my project is "Does curry prevent bacterial growth"? For a science fair you have to use the scientific method . Hear is something to tell you more about that.
I did not find that this project was hard because I have done science fair before.
The reason I chose this project is because I like curry and I heard about it's medicinal properties.
I initially got worried because for first 2 days the bacteria did not grow in any of the petri dishes - with or without curry. But, on third day, I saw some dark spots on the petri dish without curry. I got really excited. At the end of 1 week, the bacteria colonies were really growing on the dish without curry and no bacteria was seen on the petri dish with curry.
On the day of presentation, I got little bit nervous with the judges. But, I was able to answer most of their questions and I felt good at the end.
I could have planned to test more spices like Cinnamon, black pepper etc. It would have been interesting to see the results.
